Good to know
— WELCOME TO OLIVE HOUSE! — Some houses you rent. Others become yours the moment you walk in. Olive House is a fully renovated Cape Cod tucked into one of the quietest, most magical corners of Williams Bay — steps from the lake path, the village, and everything Lake Geneva has to offer. We built this house for the kind of trip people talk about for years. The kind where you walk in, drop your bags, and you're suddenly just steps from the lake life that Midwesterners dream about all winter long. The vacation where everyone was crammed into the same room and the baby had outgrown the pack-and-play and refused to sleep. The rental with those gorgeous linen curtains that let in every ray of morning light at 5:30 AM. The trip where we forgot the white noise machines and paid for it for three days. We've been there. We really have. Think of us as your most well-traveled mom-friend who set up her lake house for real families — because we know that if the kids aren't sleeping, no one is having fun. 🛏️ Mini crib (set up in the Green Room on request) 🍼 High chair seat, baby bath, baby books 🏖️ Double stroller, beach cart, beach chairs, and beach towels 🎯 Yard games, garage game room, and indoor games 🐾 Dog-friendly on a case-by-case basis — up to 2 well-behaved dogs with prior approval and additional $50 / dog / night pet fee. See house rules for details. Also perfect for: girls weekends, bachelorette parties, friend reunions, and families coming to the area for weddings on Geneva Lake — the Loft was basically made for this. — WHAT WE PROVIDE — 🧺 Dishwasher detergent, hand soap, basic cleaning supplies 🧴 Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hair dryer in every bathroom 🩹 First-aid kit, foil, parchment, zip bags 🪥 "I forgot" basket — the essentials for what you left at home ✅ When you check in, the house is ready. We want the person who booked this trip to walk through the front door and exhale. — THE WILDLIFE — Here's something you won't find in most Lake Geneva rentals: Olive House is home to so much wildlife! 🦢 Two sandhill cranes who visit during the summer 🦃 A roving group of turkeys 🦌 A pack of deer who cross the lawn at dusk We put rocking chairs on the front porch and swivel chairs facing the front windows for exactly this reason. — A NOTE FROM YOUR HOSTS — We are not a property management company. We're a family who found something rare in Williams Bay and wanted to share it. When you choose Olive House, you're our guest — and we mean that. As a mom and the one who plans the family trips and girls' weekends, I know the weight of picking the right place. That moment of pulling up and hoping it's everything you imagined. We set this house up so that it is — and then some. Our goal is simple: that you love it here so much you come back every summer, until it starts to feel like yours too. There's something that happens when you cross into Wisconsin. The shoulders drop. The pace changes. You're almost there.
Other Details to Note
Olive House was built in the 1920s, and we want you to know that before you book. Every surface has been renovated — new floors, updated bathrooms, refreshed kitchen, fresh paint throughout — and the house has modern amenities including central air conditioning and a dedicated mini-split for the upstairs loft. But the floors creak. The walls have a little character. The bones are old, and we love them. This is a renovated lake cottage with a century of history — not a new build. If you're looking for that, this isn't your place. But if you want a home that feels like it has always been exactly where it belongs, with everything updated and nothing lost — welcome to Olive House. Olive House is a cottage in a natural setting — we're surrounded by green space, wildlife, and gardens, and we love it that way. Occasionally a fly finds its way in, or a stink bug makes an appearance. We treat the property regularly and maintain it carefully, but this is a lake cottage in Wisconsin, not a sealed hotel room. Seasonal insects are a normal part of the environment and are not grounds for a refund or dispute. -- Before You Book -- Pet stays are subject to prior approval and are not available via Instant Book. Pet fee of $50 / night / approved dog, paid through the Airbnb resolution center. Please message us before booking if you plan to bring a dog. All guests will be required to sign a short rental agreement prior to check-in, in order to collect contact information as required by our short term rental license, and to agree to dog stay rules (if a dog stay has been approve). This agreement will be sent via airbnb chat upon booking confirmation and must be signed before check-in instructions are released. For the safety and security of our guests and property, Olive House has exterior security cameras at the front door and back door. Cameras are exterior only — there are none inside the home. In order to be good neighbors to our Williams Bay community, we also use a decibel monitor on the property during quiet hours. This device measures noise levels only and does not record audio. If noise levels exceed community standards, we will reach out directly.

Accessibility and Availability
Neighborhood
Williams Bay is the kind of place people discover and then wonder why they ever went anywhere else. A genuine summer town — frequent festivals, Friday morning farmers markets, live music drifting out of restaurants on warm nights, and of course, the lake. The fun continues into the fall, when the crowds die down just slightly but the vibe stays the same - just add fall colors and a sweatshirt. Less crowded than downtown Lake Geneva, quieter than Fontana, but with everything you need either walkable or just minutes away. — AT A GLANCE — On foot from Olive House: ☕ Green Grocer — ~6 min 🍔 Harpoon Willies — ~6 min 🍳 Bay Cooks — ~5 min 🍦 Ice cream (Frosty Moose, Dip in the Bay) — ~5 min 🧘 Heat Wave Hot Yoga & Clear Waters Spa — ~6 min 🌳 Edgewater Park & Farmers Market — ~8 min 🎵 Belfry Music Theater — ~10 min 🚶 Geneva Lake Shore Path — ~7 min 🏖️ Williams Bay Beach — ~13 min ⛵ Pier 290 — ~15 min A short drive: 🎣 Chuck's Lakeshore, Fontana — ~8 min ☕ Coffee Mill, Fontana — ~8 min 🏙️ Downtown Lake Geneva — ~10 min 🏨 The Abbey Resort & Avani Spa, Fontana — ~10 min 🎶 Mars Resort, Lake Como — ~10 min 💍 Grand Geneva Resort & Spa — ~15 min 🛒 Target + Walmart — ~13 min 🥦 Natural Grocers — coming soon — THE DETAILS — ☕ Green Grocer — Part upscale grocer, part neighborhood restaurant. Organic sandwiches (try the Gouda Bird), fresh salads, smoothies, flatbreads, fancy grocery staples, wine and beer. Coffee and pastries in the morning, cocktails in the evening, live music often. A Williams Bay staple — you'll understand why the moment you walk in. 🍔 Harpoon Willies — The casual, beloved local bar and grill with a screened porch and lake views. Burgers, pizza, cold drinks. Family-friendly and never pretentious. 🍳 Bay Cooks — Breakfast tacos, Swedish pancakes, and surprisingly good coffee? Yes, please. Weekend brunch worth planning your morning around. 🍦 Ice cream — Frosty Moose, Dip in the Bay, and more within easy reach. Your pick. 🧘 Heat Wave Hot Yoga & Clear Waters Salon and Spa — At least one morning where someone needs to sweat it out, and at least one afternoon where someone needs a facial and a glass of wine. Both are steps away. You're welcome. 🌳 Edgewater Park & Farmers Market — Beautiful lakeside park with a playground and open green space. Friday mornings all summer: local produce, fresh flowers, and the kind of unhurried morning that reminds you why you came. 🎵 Belfry Music Theater — Live performances all summer, from local bands to touring acts. Check their schedule before you arrive. 🚶 Geneva Lake Shore Path — Geneva Lake is 21 miles around, but the Shore Path runs closer to 26 — weaving through the front lawns of gilded-age estates, past manicured gardens and wooded coves, all legally open to the public on foot. Walking path only — not paved, not stroller-friendly once you're on it, though families will love the flat stretch through Edgewater Park toward the beach. Head east toward downtown Lake Geneva or west toward Fontana. Lace up and go. 🏖️ Williams Bay Beach — This is why we come here. Sandy public beach with lifeguards Memorial Day through Labor Day, a bathhouse, playground, and a pier the kids will spend the entire afternoon jumping off. Load up the beach cart with the provided chairs and towels, push the little ones in the stroller, and just... go. ⛵ Pier 290 — This is where you feel like you're living the full Lake Geneva fantasy. Right on the water, sprawling patio, live music every weekend, and a view that cannot be beat. Make a reservation. If you didn't, the high tops in the sand near the band are a fine consolation prize. 🎣 Chuck's Lakeshore (Fontana) — Classic Wisconsin supper club right on the water. Order the fish fry. ☕ Coffee Mill (Fontana) — Voted best coffee in Walworth County. Organic, fair trade, locally owned. The baked oatmeal people drive across the county for. 🏙️ Downtown Lake Geneva — Shopping, boat tours, the famous Mail Boat, beach, and more restaurants than you'll have time for. Stop in the Flat Iron Tap for a frosty beer and the best cheese curds in Wisconsin. I said what I said. And when you've had your fill of the crowds — Williams Bay is ten minutes away, with everything you need and none of the chaos. 🏨 The Abbey Resort & Avani Spa (Fontana) — Full resort experience, spa services, and a waterfront restaurant for a special night out. 🎶 Mars Resort (Lake Como) — Wisconsin supper club since 1923, with live music on the mini beach that hits different on a warm summer night. Order the fish fry. Bring cash for the bar. 💍 Grand Geneva Resort & Spa — One of the Midwest's premier wedding and event venues, set on 1,300 acres just outside Lake Geneva. If you're in the area for a wedding at Grand Geneva, Olive House is the perfect home base — close enough to Uber to the venue, spacious enough for the whole crew to get ready together. 🛒 Target — A non-negotiable. We don't travel anywhere without one nearby, and neither should you. 🛒 Walmart — It has even more things than Target! 🥦 Natural Grocers — Coming soon to the area.
Guest Access
Guests have full access to the entire house across all three levels, the covered front porch, the backyard patio and fire table, the yard, and the garage game room. Please note that the game room garage is not available for parking. The storage areas in the basement are not accessible to guests. The laundry room is also in an unfinished area of the basement — it's fully functional, and access is available upon request for any guest who needs it during their stay.

Olive House has four off-street parking spaces in the driveway — plenty for most groups, though four full-sized SUVs may be a tight squeeze. Let's talk if you think you need more parking. Here's the thing about Williams Bay: you could park your car on arrival and not touch it again until checkout. The lake, the beach, the path, the restaurants, the farmers market, the ice cream — all of it is walkable. For a lot of guests, that's exactly what happens, and honestly, it's one of the best things about staying here. When you're ready to venture farther, everything in the area is an easy drive or Uber away. Downtown Lake Geneva, Fontana, Lake Como — nothing takes more than 15 minutes.
